Ferhan Rasul
Director and CEO
Mr. Ferhan Rasul is a dynamic senior business professional and CEO of Algae International Ltd, with a passion for sustainability and expertise in retail and construction. Holding a B.A. in Business Accounting & Finance (2005), he has successfully led organisations such as Food 4 Thought Ltd and Trend Transformations. He also serves as CEO of Bio-Energy International Ltd and Director of Trends Development Ltd, driving innovation and growth. At Algae International Ltd, he leads efforts to revolutionise industries like pharmaceuticals, aquafeed, and cosmetics with sustainable algae-based solutions. His strategic vision and financial expertise position him as a leader in eco-conscious business development.
Sheikh Abdulla Faisal Al-Thani
Director & CFO
SHK Abdulla Al Thani, a Swansea University graduate in finance (2018), is deeply committed to green finance and sustainability. With extensive financial expertise, he champions algae-based products as a means to drive economic and environmental benefits. His experience as a Business Development Officer in his family enterprise strengthened his ability to identify sustainable business opportunities. Currently, as a senior management reporting analyst in the oil and gas sector, he applies critical analysis and reporting skills. With a strong academic background and a passion for sustainability, SHK Abdulla is set to make a lasting impact in finance and environmental innovation.
Prof. Andrew R. Barron
Board Chairman & Chief Scientific Officer
After earning his PhD from Imperial College and completing post-doctoral research at UT Austin, Andrew joined Harvard University’s faculty in 1987 before moving to Rice University in 1995 as the Welch Chair of Chemistry. In 2014, he founded the Energy Safety Research Institute (ESRI) at Swansea University, leading Wales’ largest industrial decarbonisation project. A prolific scientist with over 550 publications, he is also a serial entrepreneur in water treatment, carbon capture, and healthcare. Recognised as the Prince of Wales Visiting Innovator, he has received the World Technology and Star of Asia Awards. Andrew splits his time between Swansea (UK) and Austin (TX) with his wife and their two cats.
Claire Relandeau
Non-Executive Director
Claire Relandeau holds a Master’s in Life Sciences from AgroParisTech and an Executive MBA from Essec Business School. With 25 years of experience in animal nutrition and crop protection, she has led marketing and sales for specialty products in chemistry and biotechnology. A seasoned international business developer, she has launched products across 12 Asia-Pacific countries. Now based in London, she consults for startups and SMEs in BioTech, AgTech, and FoodTech, helping scale sustainable innovations. As the first NED at API, she is excited to support its mission of delivering green products for a greener world.
Jack Wade
Research and Development Manager
Jack Wade is a dedicated bioengineer supporting API’s mission to deliver sustainable, algae-based solutions. With a background in chemical engineering and bioscience from Swansea University, he specialises in molecular biology, microbiology, and large-scale bioprocessing. As a workshop technician for Swansea University’s RICE project, he works on algae cultivation, analysis, and extraction. His experience spans genetic engineering at Procoll and biopesticide efficacy testing at Bionema Ltd. With expertise in photobioreactors and biomass extraction, Jack plays a key role in developing eco-friendly innovations for pharmaceuticals, aquafeed, food, cosmetics, and algae-based dyes.
Adnan Habibimakrani
Research Technician
Adnan Habibimakrani is a dedicated biotechnology expert contributing to Algae Products International’s mission of delivering sustainable algae-based innovations. With a Master’s in Biotechnology and Management from the University of Glasgow, he combines scientific expertise with industry insight. As a Technical Researcher, he focuses on microalgal cultivation, advanced photobioreactor design, and carbon capture techniques to enhance biomass production. His work extends to developing high-quality pigments and leveraging microalgae for wastewater remediation and air pollution treatment. Passionate about sustainability, Adnan is committed to advancing research that addresses global environmental challenges.
Shalvia Singh
Sales & Marketing Executive
Shalvia is a skilled marketing professional with expertise in developing and executing multi-channel strategies. Holding a Master’s in International Media and Communication Studies from the University of Nottingham, she has a deep understanding of media, cultural industries, and digital transformation. Specialising in SEO-optimised content creation for social media, email marketing, and websites, she excels in stakeholder engagement, project management, and analytics. Proficient in digital marketing tools, including SEO, Adobe Creative Suite, and Canva, Shalvia plays a key role in enhancing API’s brand visibility and audience engagement.
