Cultivating Spirulina for a Sustainable Future

Our Spirulina Cultivation Journey

Our adventure in Spirulina production began with a culture of Arthrospira platensis from CCAP. This culture was meticulously scaled up under controlled conditions, eventually reaching an impressive 200 liters of Spirulina culture. Over approximately six weeks, we nurtured this growth with care.

Inoculating the Photobioreactor (PBR)

Once we achieved 200 liters of Spirulina culture, we were ready to introduce it to our custom Photobioreactor (PBR). This system was carefully scaled up, with the culture constantly circulating around light tubes and controlled temperature and pH. Daily measurements ensured the culture’s health.

Harvesting High-Quality Biomass

The journey from culture to high-quality biomass involved challenges and solutions. We carefully avoided culture shock during the transition to the PBR setup. Growing Spirulina with industrial CO2 waste gas required gradual introduction for tolerance. Optimizing membrane conditions ensured safe harvesting, and freeze drying preserved cell structure and protein quality.
